Celebrating 65 Years
God is Our Strength

St. Anthony Catholic School opened its doors in 1944, and has maintained a tradition of being an exceptional school providing a quality education.  St. Anthony Catholic School (SACS) provides a faith-based education which strives for academic excellence and lays the foundation for the spiritual, physical, and growth for the students.  Our small class sizes with a 7:1 student/teacher ratio mean greater opportunity for one-on-one instruction, while our challenging curriculum provides enrichment and instills a lifelong passion for learning.  As a Catholic school, we are committed to the spiritual, intellectual, emotional, social, and physical development of each student, in partnership with families and parishioners.

Teachers

Mrs. Amber Brushaber

My name is Amber Brushaber.  I am the Kindergarten teacher as well as a mother of 4.  I have been teaching Kindergarten for 12 years.  I am not only a teacher at St. Anthony’s, but I am also an alumnus.  I enjoy teaching at St. Anthony’s.  St. Anthony’s is a warm and welcoming environment that promotes learning and growth.

Mrs. Marcia Swint

I have a Bachelor's of Arts degree in Early Childhood Education with a 4th/5th grade endorsement.  I am also a Reading Specialist for Pre-3rd grade.  I am very excited to join the St. Anthony School family and being part of such a wonderful academic system.  My husband Kevin and I have been married 23 years and are parents to 4 wonderful children who have benefited from Catholic education.

As the 1st/2nd grade teacher this year, my classroom will be very busy.  I believe in "hands-on" teaching and incorporating everyday life into our lesson plans.  The students will be working on computers, doing daily assignments, working with math prompts, enjoying reading, as well as many other activities.  This will be a wonderful year!

Sister Brenda Hawley

I am a community member to the Sister of St. Francis – Sylvania, OH.  My advanced education was at Lourdes College, Mary Manse College and Masters of Education was from Xavier University – Cincinnati, Ohio.  I enjoy gardening and reading.  I also enjoy sharing the fruits and vegetables of my labor with my family and friends.  I am proud to call Toledo my home.

St. Anthony Catholic School is an enjoyable place to teach because the staff is friendly.  The parents and students are warm, welcoming and friendly to all in the school.  I do enjoy teaching in an environment that is surrounded by trees and all sorts of nature.

Mrs. Lorrie Parker

I graduated from Eastern Michigan University many years ago and I’m certified to teach Kindergarten through 12th grades.  Even before college I worked with children as a tutor at New Boston Huron and with church youth groups.  I have been teaching at St. Anthony Catholic School since 1999 and I love it!  I have had so many positive experiences with the staff members, parents, and students.  I’m looking forward to another wonderful year!

Mrs. Simone Canales

My name is Simone Canales and I teach 5th-8th grade math and language arts.  I have taught at St. Anthony School for 8 years.  I am married to Clyde, and we have two daughters.

There are so many reasons why I enjoy teaching at St. Anthony’s.  We are all like a family here.  The parents, teachers, and students all get along so well, and they all work closely together to meet the needs of each individual child.  The students are more like siblings than classmates.  The bonds that the students form with each other at St. Anthony remain for a lifetime.  I also enjoy the small class sizes.  With the smaller class sizes, each student receives more individualized attention.  Teaching a St. Anthony has truly been a blessing!

Sharon Metz – Music

I have a Bachelor of Instrumental Music Education Master of Arts – Organ Performance from Eastern Michigan University.

I am thrilled to be teaching music here at St. Anthony School.  It is rewarding to me seeing all of my students excelling and having fun creating music.  They learn to read music, sing and how to play instruments.  The benefits of teaching these students are priceless.  They are truly amazing.

Mrs. Goldie Easton – Physical Education and Computer

I am from the Upper Peninsula of Michigan.  I have two sons Justin and Jordan.  I have been married for 10½ years, and have lived in Toledo for 9½ years.  I enjoy sports, outdoor activities, and spending time with family.

I enjoy teaching at St. Anthony School because of the great atmosphere.  People are friendly and welcoming, and I love teaching to the “whole child,” mind, body, and spirit.

Ms. Faith Weber - Religion 7 & 8th Grades

I am the DRE here at St. Anthony's Parish.  I am looking forward to helping the 7th & 8th grade students prepare for the Sacrament of Confirmation.  But mostly I am looking forward to helping them grow closer to God and His Church. It is a privilege to do this!

I graduated from Lourdes College in 2007 with a BA concentrating in Religious Studies and Psychology.  I have 3 grown children, the youngest is currently serving in the US Army.  I have 4 grandchildren.  I am a member of Companions of Christ the Lamb, a Public Association of the Faithful seeking to become a Society of Apostolic Life within the Catholic Church.  My office is at the end of the west hallway on the right side.  Feel free to stop in and see me!
